I recently purchased this curling iron at a mega-discount store while shopping for groceries. It was an impulse purchase. My usual pattern is to first check out reviews before I buy many new items. In that particular case, I am very, very glad that I did not check out the reviews first, because they would have prevented me from making this purchase! I'll never understand all the negative reviews here. Perhaps Revlon has updated this curling iron, and worked out all the bugs that reviewers are talking about.

However, my experience is that this is a great product. First of all, it heats up immediately. It has a GREAT hold on the hair, so that it does not slip out of the iron as you work with it. That is a huge bonus for me. It helped me do my hair in half the time.

If I am not doing anything special, I look for the easiest ways to do my hair without finishing up looking unkempt. With the Revlon Perfect Heat Professional Styling Iron, I was able to fluff-dry my hair (without the pulling of a styling brush) and finish off by taking several sections with the iron, letting them cool, and PRESTO -- my hair was done. I used a head band, back-combed the crown a bit and my hair fell into jumbo curls and waves without a too-poofy look.

You can't ask for better than this.

I have asian straight-fine hair and it's hard to be curled. If I use a curling iron, my hair will be straight again in 1 hour. I search a lot and review every comment of all wave irons that Amazon has, and I finally decided for this one. This is my first wave iron. I tried on my hair once I got it and it is amazing. I did not use any product before I use it. I used it on my dry hair, and it creates soft-defined wave. EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED! and the good thing is, I can finish all in 20 mins (I have shoulder length hair) and it lasts all day. Cons: I need to use high heat to make it works. Low and medium heat are not enough to curl my hair. Also, I need to wait like 3-4 mins to let the iron to heat up to the optimum heat. Oh, another thing, it is easy to burn the skin since there is no plastic at the tip like flat or curl iron, so be careful! But overall, it is a great product for me. Reminder: if you have more coarse hair, it might not work becuase even I have fine hair, I need to use the max heat.

I have owned a Conair Cordless Curling Iron since 1994. The first I had for about 4 years - it was bulkier and the ignitor eventually broke after much teenage use. BUT, I have had this model for over 6 years and it gets used almost daily. It is small enough to keep in my purse and has saved the day on a few occasions! The butane refills last a long time, it heats up very quickly and cools just as fast. It's great for quick touch-ups and is very handy when traveling. I'd give it more stars if I could... :)

This curling iron does a great job - heats up quickly and curls fabulously. I'm not a professional hairdresser, so the handle took some getting used to. Now that I'm well practiced at handling it, it is actually easier to use than the conventional "springed" curling iron clamp.

Be careful with the tip, another difference between the old curling irons and this one is that it doesn't have a protective, cool tip so ear burning is at high risk. I've burned my right ear twice. I don't even consider my ears to be big :-) A great product - your hair needs this!

My stylist used this on my hair because I loved the curls she had and I LA-LA-LA-LOVE IT! It gives you those nice loose natural appearing curls without looking too "Shirley Temple" You must take a section of hair twist it with two fingers then wrap your hair around the barrel. For the piece that is cone shaped start with the widest end where you want your curl to start. I have very soft, straight hair that can rarely keep a curl and feel dirty if I don't wash my hair daily (I know its bad!) but when I woke up the next day my hair was still wavy and "messy-ish" it looked funky but nice enough for me to go to work at my office which is a professional business setting. So just to re-iterate I LA LA LA LOVE this and have ordered it can't wait to get it!!!! If you don't know how to use it I suggest you go to your hairstylist and ask her to show you how to use it.

I have only had this curling iron for about a month now, but I love it so far.

I have thick, course, long, wavy hair, and it manages it well. However, I do notice a loss of heat from the curling iron after a few sections, and that it does dry out my hair even more, even when I use heat protection. I don't view it as a major problem though, just that have to be more conscious about over-moisturizing my hair, and giving my hair a few days of break in between. As far as I can tell, it has not given me any split ends, so far, but I also attribute that to my good moisturizing practices (using moisturizing treatment that I leave in for five minutes in the shower, and using leave-in conditioner afterward... depending on how dry it feels, etc.).

Looking back now, I wish I would have also purchased the kind where the handle swivels around the base, to see if I would have preferred that style more. On this one, where the cord attaches to the curling iron, it swivels, and I love that feature; however, I don't like trying to figure out where my clamp handle is when I'm doing the back of my head.

With a spritz of hairspray my curls last all day and sometimes even manage to look good after a night of sleep!

Even though I probably had more negative/neutral comments about this curling iron, I still decided to give it four stars, because it is definitely the best curling iron I have used to date.

My friend purchased this product awhile back at a local mall for about 130 dollars. when i found it here for such a low price, i was sceptic, but decided to give it a shot. this product is the best curling iron on the market, hands down.

It took me about 30 minutes to do my hair (spliting into 4 sections from bottom to top works best, i think) and after getting the swing of it, it only takes me 15 to 20, and the curls last ALL DAY, and i dont use hair spray or any other product to keep the hold. i get compliments every day, and all the girls i know who've now bought this product are raving about it as well. only warning is to watch where your hands and fingers are so you dont burn yourself.

i LOVE this

(HOWEVER: the 'thermal glove' doesnt really help much. for me it gets in the way, and less control when i want a specific type of curl.)

I love clipless curling irons and I thought I would give this brand a try.

Although this iron has a unique shape, it creates pretty identical curls to a normal curling iron. In order to create a curl with a shape similar to the iron, you have to use a very small strand of hair.

The shape of the iron makes sliding the hair off the iron more difficult (since the bottom is bigger than the top). To be honest, I don't notice any difference in the shape of the curl from a normal cylinder iron.

I do love the quality of the iron though and the curls are beautiful. I also like how this iron is under a lifetime warranty!

I knew that it was different then other curling irons, but it is good when you want to roll the curling iron through your hair. I did burn myself once on my forearm, but I still think it's worth it. I hope to become more proficient with it over time.

My husband and I often go for a double appointment to get our hair cut. It was late, right before Christmas and we managed to get an appointment. The hairdresser was in a rush and had fit us in that night out of the kindness of her heart. So, she cut my hair and then let me play around with all the hair products and curling irons while she was cutting my husband's hair. I fell in love with the 1 1/4-inch curling iron she had. I then went looking for one for home use.

This has a 1-1/4 inch chrome barrel which is perfect if you want "body" and not really
that much curl. If you have very long hair, it would give you beautiful ringlets.

20 Heat Settings

Low 1-5: Delicate, thin, easy-to-curl hair
Medium 6-10: Average to Wavy or Treated hair
Medium High 11-15: Thick or Wavy Hair
High 16-20: Hard to curl, coarse hair

The "20 Heat Settings" is what sold this product to me. I love the fact that my hair
will not melt even on a low setting. Most curling irons heat up way too much for
me to use and that is why I rarely used them.
