I have the thick, curly, poof polynesian type hair. I've had this straightener for about a little over a month! It's amazing! It's better than any salon straightener there is and best of all I got it for about 1/8th of what I usually pay for a straightener. I first discovered this at my friend's mom's wedding. My friend's sister had her hair straightened and it looks so shiny and super straight. If you've been to Hawaii, you will know that the humidity here will get any hair poofed up 5x worse than in the mainland. I asked her which salon did she got her "japanese perm" from and she laughed and said, "you really kidding me?". I said No, her hair looked shiny and straight. She told me to go to Walmart and pick up the Remington Wet 2 Straight flat iron for . I asked her, what else did she use on her hair, it's so shiny. She said, nothing! She just used the flat iron. I was really impressed. I went to Walmart after the wedding ceremony, and bought it. Then tried it and low and behold, my hair was not only straight but it was shiny!!!! I was pretty impressed. Usually when I flat iron my hair, the minute I walk out my door, my hair starts to rise. Not this one.. my hair stayed straight! At the reception, I showed up and everyone was amazed at my hair! A lot of people asked me if I went to the hair salon after the wedding ceremony. I had so many compliments throughout the month. Even when sweating, my hair still didn't curl up like it usually does with the other hair straighteners. Don't waste your money on any other products like I did. I'm THE INFORMERCIAL QUEEN! I bought a lot of hair straighteners, flat irons you name it.. just to get the look I received with this amazing product but never had any product work like the Wet 2 Straight and best of all it's SUPER CHEAP! Who would've known that something this cheap could get my hair the perfect look I've always wanted. Get it you will not be disappointed. ALOHA.

I have asian straight-fine hair and it's hard to be curled. If I use a curling iron, my hair will be straight again in 1 hour. I search a lot and review every comment of all wave irons that Amazon has, and I finally decided for this one. This is my first wave iron. I tried on my hair once I got it and it is amazing. I did not use any product before I use it. I used it on my dry hair, and it creates soft-defined wave. EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED! and the good thing is, I can finish all in 20 mins (I have shoulder length hair) and it lasts all day. Cons: I need to use high heat to make it works. Low and medium heat are not enough to curl my hair. Also, I need to wait like 3-4 mins to let the iron to heat up to the optimum heat. Oh, another thing, it is easy to burn the skin since there is no plastic at the tip like flat or curl iron, so be careful! But overall, it is a great product for me. Reminder: if you have more coarse hair, it might not work becuase even I have fine hair, I need to use the max heat.

I have been using a 1-1/4" marcel curling iron (same brand) for several years and love it. I thought I might try the 1 inch. There is a huge difference in barrel size between the two. At first I thought I must have ordered the wrong size or my old one was actually larger than I thought. However, I measured them, and they are only 1/4 " difference in size. The difference just looks a lot more.

I put mine in "unlock" mode so that the handle rotates when you use it. This is how I prefer using it. However, on my new one, it is very stiff, and I have trouble getting it to rotate freely. I don't know if it is just because it is new and needs to be used for a while or if it is slightly defective. I will keep spinning it so that it is not as tight. Other than that, I can't complain at all about it.

If you have never used a marcel curling iron before, I highly recommend practicing with it without heat or at a VERY low heat setting. I have used them for years and I still burn myself. I get careless, grab my hair with one hand, swing the curling iron toward it to grab the hair, and accidentally get my arm instead of the hair. Ouch! Be careful. If you can get past that, it works incredibly well. I would not want to go back to a spring type curling iron. I even use my larger marcel iron to straighten my hair. It makes it much smoother than a flat iron. Plus, it doesn't catch/pull the hair like a flat iron can sometimes do.

If I had rated this iron right when I got it, it would have been a 5 star - it gets super hot (which I need with curly, thick hair) and gets hot FAST. It's also silky smooth and really glides through your hair - love the cord feature which allows for ease-of-movement. The downside is that since I've had it (1-2 months) the purple coating is totally coming off...and I'd suspect in another few months it will be really bad. I'm not sure if this is do to the product that I wear on my hair - might be - but I can't give it 5 stars when the coating started coming off immediately. Also, the iron doesn't have auto-shut off. Granted, it didn't advertise that it did, but I haven't purchased an iron in the past several years that DIDN'T have this feature so I took for granted that it did. If the coating wasn't coming off and it had auto-shut off, it'd be the best iron ever! That being said, I love the iron so much that I would buy another one when the coating comes off - for the money, it's the best iron I've ever had and I've had many!

This purchase was an impulse buy as I already had a functional iron in the same diameter size. My stylist used this model or one that appears similar and I was desirous of having a unit that required no wait time for heating. I'd viewed this brand in a beauty supply store where, even with a friend's discount card, the price far exceeded that paid here, even with the additional expense of shipping.

I've been using my new iron for a couple of months and am delighted that I made the upgrade. It's instantly fully heated upon just plugging it into an outlet. The cord is conveniently long and it spins on the iron so that it never ravels which is a wonderful feature. A convenient attached stand permits me to avoid damage to my counter and is easily pushed back into place during iron application. Hair is held tightly in place such that the entire process is completed as quickly as is possible. I have not utilized the selection of temperatures nor had any incident of burning or damaging my baby fine hair, even curling small tendril sections at a time. The curls last longer than they did with my prior curling iron. They're still in place even after a night of sleep.

The price, function, quality and efficacy could not be improved upon. I am delighted that I made this purchase.

This is the first curling product I've used that has worked!!
My hair is stick-straight and has never been able to hold a curl (I've tried curlers, rollers, curling irons, products, you name it!) but this curling iron gives my hair curls that literally last ALL DAY.
I dry my hair, curl it, and spritz a little hairspray I'm good to go for the day. It takes me about 15 minutes to curl all my hair, which I think is amazing. The glove that comes with it works but not very well, so I've layered a regular little cotton winter glove underneath to keep from burning my fingers. It's possible, though, to just use the one glove without totally burning yourself because you really only have to hold it on there for 4 or 5 seconds.
Wonderful curling iron - I hope this one lasts forever but if it doesn't, I'll be buying it again.
