This is easy to use once you learn how, and it doesn't take long to learn. Forget about the pitiful directions that come with it; they are useless. Go online and find a how-to video (there are dozens that I saw) and practice for a bit. If you want perfect spirals, make sure your hair is between the grooves. I'm not that particular about it and still get really good spiral curls. I like it to look a little messy anyway, and once you step out the door you know it will get messed up some no matter how careful you are at home. This Conair spiral curler gave me just the look I wanted, but they really need to work on those directions they include with it!
